Hi Alex, and welcome to our community!

Unfortunately, yes. As a Temporary Skill Shortage (subclass 482) visa holder in Victoria, your children are considered temporary residents so you’ll be required to pay tuition fees to attend government schools. These fees are managed by the Victorian Department of Education through the International Student Program (ISP).

As of 2025, the annual tuition fees for temporary resident students in Victorian government schools are:

    • Primary School (Prep to Year 6): $13,922

    • Junior Secondary (Years 7–10): $18,488

    • Senior Secondary (Years 11–12): $20,748

Please note that these fees are subject to change and may vary depending on the specific school and any additional programs or services offered.

For kindergarten (pre-primary) education, fees are separate and can vary depending on the specific kindergarten and local council area.

Some low-income families may be eligible for fee waivers or reductions, which are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

For more information and the most up-to-date fees, see the page here.

If you need any more help, please don’t hesitate to ask.

    Warm regards,
    Mark
