  • Advise on how to get a visa sponsorship job in Australia

Posted by julio90 on February 21, 2025 at 5:00 am

Hi, Julius Ambe Shu is my name. I am a Cameroonian of 35 years old. I have been working in the United Arab Emirates(Dubai)for 5 years now as a chef. I am specialized in the Italian cuisine. Presently I work like a CDP/ Junior Sous chef. The condition in the UAE can’t permit me to stay together with my family comfortably. So, I need help on how to get a sponsor in Australia who might help me to get a job there and take a new challenge. That is why I am here to seek for your humble advice.

Hi Julius, welcome to our community. Thanks for your question! 😊

Given your experience as a chef, you have good potential to secure visa sponsorship in Australia. Here’s how you can go about it:

    1. Find Sponsored Job Opportunities

      • Check 482jobs.com first—this is our platform, and all jobs listed there offer visa sponsorship. like this one.
      • Explore Seek and Indeed for chef positions with sponsorship.
      • Use LinkedIn to connect with Australian employers and recruiters in the hospitality industry.
    2. Target the Right Visa

      • The Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa (subclass 482) is the most common pathway for sponsored employment. Your occupation as a chef (ANZSCO 351311) is on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL), which makes you eligible for a 482 visa leading to permanent residency.
      • Some regional areas may offer better opportunities under the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 494).
    3. Prepare Your Documents

      • Ensure your qualifications and experience align with Australian standards. In many cases, you may need a skills assessment from Trades Recognition Australia (TRA) (http://www.tradesrecognitionaustralia.gov.au).
      • Update your resume (CV) to Australian standards—highlight your Italian cuisine expertise and leadership experience.
    4. Connect with Employers Directly

      • Many Australian restaurants, hotels, and catering businesses actively sponsor skilled chefs. Try reaching out directly via their websites or LinkedIn.
      • Consider recruitment agencies that specialize in hospitality roles.
    5. Explore Regional Opportunities

      • Many employers in regional areas struggle to find skilled chefs and are more likely to sponsor overseas workers.

If you need help with refining your job search strategy, feel free to ask! Wishing you the best on your journey to Australia.

    All the best
