    Hi everyone.

Not a political post at all so don’t worry, but I wanted to post about the upcoming Australian election and how that may affect those of us looking to migrate to Australia.

Is there a chance that if there is new government that visa applications may be cancelled or delayed, or that the skilled occupation lists may get redone? As an American I’m aware that a change in government usually creates a change in migration strategy, so I’m just hoping and praying that either outcome come May 3rd doesn’t affect any of us in the process of migrating.

    Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    -Tommy

    Hi mate. Politics… spicy! 🌶️☺️

For what it’s worth, I think you’ll be absolutely fine.

Reading the news here in Oz, both parties want to reduce net migration levels and to reduce some of the pressure on housing in certain areas.

With that said, Historically, when immigration policies change, there are usually “grandfathering” provisions that allow applications already in progress to be assessed under the previous rules.

Given you have already received an invite (and hopefully a visa by the time of the election 🤞🏻), I think you will be absolutely fine. 🙂

    Cheers
