I ‘m liza, 40 years old from Singapore. I have done and pass my english exam [PTE academic], skill assessment and had create an EOI skill select . I create one visa subclass for 1 state for each eoi skill select account, I did not lump them up. I waited for 3 years ,I was not even nominated for 190 or 491 from any state government, My english exam and skill assessment will expire and I ‘m frustrated things are not moving and I dont even get nominated, not even a 491 visa. I give up hope on the nomination thing coz there is No way for I.T. professionals to get selected by state government to apply for a visa. I am looking for DAMA regional sponsor visa. (regional area in Darwin, Northern Territory). I I have a positive skill assessment from Australia Computer Society with more than 8 years full time work experience. My I.T. degree is also recognised and accepted by australia computer society

I hope you can give me a list of I.T. companies or agencies in Darwin only that can sponsor me for a 186 visa as an ICT Support engineer or ICT support and test engineer or ICT test engineer (as stated in my australian computer society skill assessment letter)

P.S. : if you had some connections in Darwin or if you know of any Darwin I.T. companies that can sponsor offshore applicant through the DAMA visa, please reply me with the website link, particularly linkedin profile. I am only looking for I.T. companies located in Darwin city only.

    Thank you Mark.

    Hi Liza,

Thanks for sharing your situation, it’s clear you’ve worked very hard, and I understand how disheartening the wait can be. Can I ask, how many points you were at when you submitted your EOI?

    1. ICT Occupations Eligible Under NT DAMA III

The Northern Territory Designated Area Migration Agreement (NT DAMA III), effective from 19 March 2025, includes several ICT occupations that align with your background:

    ICT Support Engineer (ANZSCO 263212)

ICT Systems Test Engineer (ANZSCO 263213)

ICT Support and Test Engineers nec (ANZSCO 263299)

These occupations are eligible for employer sponsorship under the Subclass 186 visa (labour agreement stream) through the NT DAMA. You can find the complete list here:

    2. Finding Employers in Darwin

There is no public list of employers approved under the NT DAMA, so you’ll need to approach potential sponsors directly. Some useful places to start:

Also, use LinkedIn to search for ICT companies based in Darwin. Contact HR departments and hiring managers to ask about DAMA sponsorship opportunities.

    3. Boost Your Visibility

    4. Upcoming Webinar

Thanks for referencing our planned webinars. We are planning a series of webinars for our community. Topics will depend on speaker availability, but we’re aiming to include a broad overview of different pathways and,DAMA pathways will hopefully be one of them.

We’ll notify all members as soon as the schedule is confirmed. ☺️

I hope this helps point you in the right direction though feel free to ask if you have any more questions?

    Warm regards,

    Mark

My eoi skill select points was 85. After more than 3 years it drop to 65 points, There was deduction in the points system as my age increase the system reduce points drastically. I find this point system useless.

I want to point out to you that all online australian webinars from migration agents that I attend give the same exact information which I can read from deppartment of home affairs and all migration agent website. If you want to conduct online webinar, please put in extract effort, research and get those australian companies who are offering sponsorship , invite them to speak online at your ozvisaforum webinars and what exactly are they are looking for in overseas candidates before getting a job offer. This will really help overseas candidates in securing a job. If you just cut and paste all the information from other Department of home affairs, migration agents and all other social media apps and put it into you webinar, then its better not to conduct a webinar. We need australian companies to be on your webinar and invite these speakers to speak out. Because australian companies are very discreet and many hidden agenda which they refuse to tell us no matter how many times you send your CV on all the links (482jobs, linkedin, jora, seek) that you have provided above . To make things worst, they are many red tape and loop holes for overseas candidates have to go through and these have been going on for years now.

Hi @liza Firstly, thank you so much for your honest feedback and for taking the time to share your experience. It’s truly appreciated.

You’ve raised some very valid points.

We agree that many candidates, especially those who’ve been in the process for years like yourself, already have a deep understanding of the basic requirements.

We also completely understand your frustration with the point system, especially how quickly age-related changes can impact eligibility. 😬

Your suggestion to include Australian employers as guest speakers in our webinars is an excellent one, and we’ll certainly take it into serious consideration as we shape the content. We understand the value of hearing directly from sponsors and decision-makers who can provide real-world insight into what they’re looking for in overseas candidates.

That said, we also want to ensure the webinars are accessible and informative for all levels of experience. Some of our members are just beginning their journey, so we’ll aim to cover a mix of foundational guidance as well as more advanced topics like DAMA sponsorships and job search strategies in regional areas.

We’re committed to making our webinars genuinely helpful, not just repeating information easily found elsewhere, and your feedback will help us do just that.

Thanks again for your input, Liza. Looking forward to seeing you at one of the upcoming sessions.

    Warm regards,

    Mark

@mark Hi Mark. When you conduct online webinar, don’t forget to send all the users here the URL link and password to access your webinar. For those who are unable to attend to the live webinar, please record the session in video format and upload it your youtube channel and share the link with all members so we can watch again and re-play any parts of the recording that we miss out.
