Welcome to our community, Melchior, it’s lovely to have you on board! Please feel free to ask any specific questions you have in support of your migration journey.

Papua New Guinea is a beautiful place – What’s driving you to look at Australia?

    All the best

Hi Mark thank you for responding to my introductory remarks.

All I want to come to Australia is actually a long time dream to come and work in Australia. I have experience in Project Management as well as Security Operation as Radio Operator.

I’d be happy to seek information and how would I go about to apply for Australian sponsored visa. Apart from Project Management and Radio Operator, I am open to Fruit Picking and working at Age Care centers or other related field related to my expertise.

    Hi Mark

    Thank you for your message.

I have actually worked with the Primary School as a Project Coordinator for one year and has been coordinating with various stakeholders through planning, execution, implementation and rolling out the tasks.

However, I also have interest in people and I’d be more comfortable working with Aging people, youths or vulnerable people in the society.

Thanks for the info Melchior. Do you have any formal experience in aged care. These roles are quite popular with overseas migrants so it might be a good occupation to target of you have the experience. ☺️

    Thank you Mark

I actually have not been working in Age Care but can I bring my expertise in Social Works where Pastoral Care, Counselling, and Mental Health. I have just read about graduating nurses whose Visa were accepted through the Pacific Labour Mobility Scheme.

Can I apply for any vacancies regarding the age care positions? Will it be okay for me?

    Hello again.🙂

It sounds like you have some transferable skills though with sponsored job opportunities it also comes down to you being to convince employers that you are the most suitable candidate for the role. If not you will struggle to secure interviews for these positions in Australia.

Ultimately, if you applied for aged care roles where you are now, do you think you would have a high chance of success?

From an Australia immigration perspective you’d typically be expected to be able to demonstrate you have experience aligned with the ANZSCO code for the role. https://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@.nsf/0/71895BF7C1455656CA2575DF002DA5D4?opendocument.

    What’s your thoughts?

    Hi Mark

I was lost of contact for the past three weeks. My apologies for this.

I have the fair idea of PALM scheme but I find it difficult to get in there due to certain circumstances. I am actually a Social Work Graduate and have been working as a Static Guard for 4 Months and Control Room Radio Operator for Six Months. I also have an experience in Community Engagement which I worked as a volunteer to help my village build new junior high school. My role in the project started from planning phase, implementation, execution and monitoring and eveluation. I have negotiated with Bristish International Education for partnership as well as Rainbow Solar Energy System to power up the school.
Currently I am still working witht the school writing proposals and seeking fundings for the establishment of school. I=

I was in Australia in 2016-2017 and again in 2018-2019. I was on the student visa through the religious activities and i have fair idea on hospitaity and toursim, gardening, customer service and age care. I did my pastoral year in South Australia for one year in 2016-2017 where i used to visit the aged center opposite the road at Glend Osmond Monastery (Lourds Valley)

I am equiring if I am eligible or how can I get to Aussie?

Thank you and have a great Day

    Hi Melchior,

No worries at all! It’s great to have you back! 😊

You’ve got a diverse background. If you’re looking at employer-sponsored visas, the main challenge is ensuring your skills match an occupation that is eligible for sponsorship. Here are some possible pathways based on your background:

    • Aged Care & Community Work: Since you have experience in social work and pastoral care, you could look into roles like Aged or Disability Carer (ANZSCO 423111) or Community Worker (ANZSCO 411711). However, most employers will expect formal qualifications and hands-on experience. Although you mentioned difficulty accessing the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme, it could be an option for lower-skilled aged care roles.
    • Project Management: If you have substantial project management experience, you could explore opportunities in industries like construction, education, or community services. Project Manager roles (ANZSCO 511112) typically require relevant qualifications and industry experience.
    • Hospitality & Tourism: Given your past exposure, you could explore jobs in hospitality, customer service, or gardening, but these roles rarely qualify for employer sponsorship unless at a managerial level.

    Next Steps:

    1. Consider Additional Training: If you’re serious about aged care or community work, getting formal training (like a Certificate III in Individual Support) could boost your chances.
    2. Job Search: Check out 482jobs.com for employer-sponsored jobs, as all listings there offer visa sponsorship. You can also try Seek and Indeed, but you may need to filter by “visa sponsorship.”
    3. Explore Visa Options: If your occupation is on the eligible skilled list, you may want to investigate the Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189) or State Nominated Visa (subclass 190). You’d likely need a skills assessment for this path.

Best of luck and let me know how I can assist you further!

    Regards,
    Mark
