Thanks for your question Alma Mae and welcome to our community! 👋

In Australia, visa pathways are generally linked to specific occupations, not entire sectors. So rather than looking at the whole banking and finance sector, it’s important to focus on your exact job title and duties.

For example, roles like Accountant (ANZSCO 221111), External Auditor (ANZSCO 221213), or Actuary (ANZSCO 224111) each have different visa options depending on whether they appear on the skilled occupation lists like the MLTSSL (Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List), STSOL (Short-term Skilled Occupation List), or ROL (Regional Occupation List).

To guide you properly, we’d need more information about your job history, experience, and qualifications, especially your specific occupation and duties.

Happy to help once we get a little more info.

    All the best

I’m currently working as a Bank Employee particularly as Marketing Assistant with 5 years and 9 months of experience in bank teller-ing, Client Service Associate and Customer Relations Associate. My skills are closely aligned with any Admin Roles, Financial Assistant, and other clerical positions that highlights on being organized, detailed, multitasking and analytical work.

Thanks for the extra detail Alma Mae, thats very helpful.

Based on your experience, your background seems to aligns most closely with general administrative or clerical roles, rather than any of the specialised finance occupations that typically appear on the skilled occupation lists for visa sponsorship.

Unfortunately, general admin and clerical jobs like Office Assistant, Admin Officer, or similar roles aren’t usually eligible for employer-sponsored visas like the Subclass 482 unless they’re being filled under a labour agreement such as a DAMA (Designated Area Migration Agreement).

These are region-specific and often require a sponsoring employer to demonstrate labour shortages.

    To explore your chances:

Check the sites above (we do sometimes publish Admin related roles on 482jobs)

You might want to check regional jobs under DAMAs, where some admin-type roles are sometimes included.

Alternatively, consider building qualifications or gaining experience in an occupation that appears on the MLTSSL or STSOL, such as Accountant (ANZSCO 221111) or External Auditor (ANZSCO 221213), if you’re open to further study or career shifts.

Note I share this based on the information you have provided, though you might benefit from a 1:1 assessment with a migration agent who can do a more detailed deep dive with you. We can refer you to a qualified agent if you would like a 1:1 assessment call although please note they do charge a small free for this service.

    Warm regards,

    Mark

this is genuinely helpful! Thanks a lot, Mark! God bless 🙏🏼

I also tried signing up and searching for job vacancies on 482 jobs website, but I had a hard time on how to apply such because employers aren’t exposed and restricted.

Thanks Alma, I’m really pleased that was helpful. ☺️ On 482jobs we have a small (paid) team who manually identify, validate and reshare the sponsored roles they find from across over 30 job sites and company employment boards.

As such, although anyone can view the jobs, we do charge a small membership fee to unlock / apply for these roles (unless an employer has paid to advertise in which case the jobs are advertised without any restrictions).

Memberships start at <$1 but if you’d prefer, the other sites I mentioned earlier (seek and indeed) can be utilised for free though you’ll need to spend a little more time filtering out the jobs not offering Visa sponsorship. (These fees also support our free sites such as this one at Oz Visa Forum) 🙂

    I hope this helps

    Regards
