  • Immigrating to Australia. My Doubts

    Hello Everyone,

Myself Dennis Joysingh and I’ve been thinking lately to immigrate to Australia. I am 45 Yrs old so I doubt that I’ll be not eligible for PR or am I?

A quick background about myself, I am single & I’ve been graduated in Bachelors of Engineering in 2002 and been to Australia for 2 years in Study visa. I came back to my country (India) and started my professional career in Contact Centre (International Clients, Technical, Sales and Customer Service) and have strong Experience of 19 Years. I think my career comes under the ‘Customer service Management’ in Skilled Occupation List (SOL).

    So my questions are. .

    1) Any chance of me getting PR?

    2) For Sponsorship Visa

    I) Are there any people migrated to Australia with my experience and age?

II) If yes, Can someone give me direction for me where to start applying?

III) Or is there sponsorship job I need to secure first ? Is there any webpage that directs me into employer is seeking to provide sponsorship visa?

I expect someone who is knowledgeable enough to kindly clear my queries. Thank you.

    Regards,

    DJ

Welcome to our community Dennis, and thanks for introducing yourself! ☺️

You’re asking some excellent questions, and I’m happy to go through them with you.

    1) Any chance of me getting PR?

Unfortunately, for general skilled migration (subclass 189 or 190), the maximum age at the time of invitation is 45. Since you’re already 45, you would not be eligible for these PR pathways.

However, employer-sponsored options are still open.

The Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) does not have a strict age cap for those earning above the Fair Work High Income Threshold (FWHIT) or in other exemption cases. You might also consider a Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa (subclass 482), which can lead to permanent residency.

    2) For Sponsorship Visa

    I) Are there any people migrated to Australia with my experience and age?

Yes, absolutely. Many individuals over 45 have successfully moved to Australia through employer sponsorship, especially when they bring strong experience like yours in customer service management. As our community continues to grow, hopefully we can have someone provide some direct input/feedback.

    II) Where to start applying?

    Here are some options:

    1. https://482jobs.com – This is one of our own websites and all jobs listed here offer Australia visa sponsorship.

    2. https://seek.com.au – The largest job board in Australia.

    3. https://indeed.com.au – Another widely used platform.

For seek and Indeed you will need to filter your results to identify the sponsored roles as they advertise both sponsored and non-sponsored positions.

Your job background sounds like it aligns with ANZSCO 149212 – Customer Service Manager. I recommend also uploading your resume to: https://482jobs.com/candidates/submit-resume/ – Australian recruiters use this to find skilled candidates for sponsored roles.

Also, you might like to search our forums for other members who have listed “customer service” in their occupation, so you can connect, follow their activity, and learn from their experiences. Here’s a direct search link: https://ozvisaforum.com/?s=Customer+service&bp_search=1&view=content

III) Do I need a job offer first?

Yes. For employer-sponsored visas like the TSS 482, you must first secure a job offer from an approved sponsor. The job boards mentioned above will help you find those opportunities.

Also, take a look at these two helpful resources:

I hope you found this information helpful Dennis. If you have more questions or need help with the next steps, feel free to post again.

    Warm regards,

    Mark

Thank you so much Mark for this extensive and informative answers for my queries. Now I have to go through your links and If I have any further doubt I’ll definitely come back.

Thanks Oz Forum, you’re services are transparent and Informative so far. To be honest, It’s better than some local Immigration Consultancies.

Cheers, Dennis – Small disclaimer 😊 Please remember, though the suggestions I make are well researched (based on current Australian migration policies) or based on my own experience (and tools I’ve gathered over the years), I’m not a migration lawyer, so please keep this in mind when making decisions. Other than that – you are very welcome! 👍🏻😊
