    Hi,

A bit of background. My Dad lives in Australia and has done since I was 16. He is married to a born Australian and has citizenship, they live in Queensland. I visited on a Working Holiday visa when I was 21 and fell in love with Australia. The last 15 years, I have wanted to immigrate. I am estranged from my Mum and have been for several years and I am very close to my Dad, we speak daily.

For one reason or another, I have been unable to but now, myself and my partner are keen to make this happen and he very much is wanting to immigrate too. I am British born and he is South African born with British Naturalisation.

My job role is a Service Manager for an Independent Supported Living Service for adults with LD, Autism and Mental Health. I have over 10 years experience within the Disability and Aged Care sector and would be happy to essentially step down to enable us to move.

My partners job role is a Cyber Security Analyst, he works for a global company however, they do not have branches in Australia.

We do not have children, so there is only the 2 of us. I’m not sure the best route, whether it would be under his occupation or my own. With the visa changes for the Skills in Demand visa, I saw an opportunity within my partners job role but we really struggle to find visa sponsorship on the recruitment websites such as Seek and Indeed.

Any help/advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Chloe,

Thanks for sharing your story, it’s clear how much moving to Australia means to you both. 🙂

Let’s explore the most suitable ANZSCO codes for you and your partner, along with potential visa pathways.

Your Occupation: Service Manager in Disability and Mental Health Support

Recommended ANZSCO Code: 134299 – Health and Welfare Services Managers nec

This code encompasses roles like Disability Services Program Manager and Manager of Allied Health Services, aligning with your experience in managing supported living services for adults with disabilities and mental health conditions.

Skill Level: 1 (typically requires a bachelor’s degree or higher, or at least five years of relevant experience)

    Assessing Authority: VETASSESS

    Visa Pathways:

Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190): State nomination leading to permanent residency.

Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491): Regional nomination with a pathway to permanent residency.

Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186): Requires employer sponsorship.

Note: This occupation is listed on the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL), which may affect eligibility for certain visas.

Your Partner’s Occupation: Cyber Security Analyst

Recommended ANZSCO Code: 262116 – Cyber Security Analyst

This role involves analyzing and assessing vulnerabilities in software, hardware, and networks, which matches your partner’s current position.

Skill Level: 1 (typically requires a bachelor’s degree or higher, or at least five years of relevant experience)

Assessing Authority: Australian Computer Society (ACS)

    Visa Pathways:

Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189): Points-tested permanent residency without state nomination.

Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190): State nomination leading to permanent residency.

Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491): Regional nomination with a pathway to permanent residency.

Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186): Requires employer sponsorship.

Temporary Skill Shortage visa (subclass 482): Employer-sponsored temporary visa.

Note: This occupation is listed on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL), providing broader visa options.

    Recommendation

Given the broader visa options and demand for Cyber Security Analysts in Australia, your partner’s occupation may offer a more straightforward pathway to migration. However, your extensive experience in the health and welfare sector is also valuable, especially in regional areas.
