Hi Henry, welcome to Oz Visa Forum and thanks for sharing your background!

After looking over your qualifications and experience, it’s important to align your occupation with the appropriate ANZSCO (Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations) code to determine eligibility for Australian skilled migration visas.

    Potential ANZSCO Codes:

    1. Mechanical Engineer (ANZSCO 233512):

      • Description: Plans, designs, organises, and oversees the assembly, erection, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of mechanical and process plant and installations.
      • Skill Level: 1 (requires a bachelor’s degree or higher).
      • Occupation List: Listed on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).
      • Assessing Authority: Engineers Australia.
      • Reference: ANZSCO 233512
    2. Mechanical Engineering Technician (ANZSCO 312512):

      • Description: Conducts tests of mechanical systems, collects and analyses data, and assembles and installs mechanical assemblies in support of Mechanical Engineers and Engineering Technologists.
      • Skill Level: 2 (requires an AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma).
      • Occupation List: Listed on the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL).
      • Assessing Authority: Trades Recognition Australia (TRA).
      • Reference: ANZSCO 312512

    Considerations:

    • Educational Background: Your bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering aligns with the qualifications required for the Mechanical Engineer role (ANZSCO 233512).
    • Work Experience: Your six years of experience as a Process Mechanical Artisan in the brewery industry may correspond more closely with the duties of a Mechanical Engineering Technician (ANZSCO 312512).
    • Please review the ANZSCO occupation descriptions I have linked above to see which one aligns more closely.
