    Hi Aliya,

    Thanks for reaching out! 🙂

Could you share a bit more about the agency you mentioned? Is it an employment agency helping you find a job, or a migration agency assisting with your visa application?

Also, in the banking industry, what specific role do you work in (e.g., financial analyst, loan officer, risk management, etc.)? Knowing more about your occupation can help determine the best visa pathways for you.

If it has been two years without an invitation, it may be worth reviewing your visa strategy. Some factors that could affect your invitation include your occupation’s status on the skilled occupation lists, your points score, and whether employer sponsorship is a better option. Once I have more details, I can guide you on potential next steps.

Looking forward to your reply! 🙂

    All the best

I am w with the Y-Axis Immigration agency. They informed that they will be helping me with the visa processing along with PR.

I am working with State Bank of India for the past 17 years. Presently I am posted as the relationship manager for NRI and Wealth clients. Basically I deal with investment portfolio management and deposit mobilisation. Customer service is the main area of concentration. I am having an exposure in credits and advances .

I was informed that i won’t be getting any sponsorship in the financial career. So I need to wait for my nomination. Actually I dont have a clear picture of these processes. I have started my visa processing in 2023 and I have made the payment for my visa in 2024 . They told me the process will be valid for 3 years only.

I will be thankful if you could explain me in the actual process involved in my migration process.

      Thank you

    Thanks for the details, Aliya!

It sounds like Y-Axis is assisting you with a skilled migration visa, likely under the General Skilled Migration (GSM) program, which includes the Subclass 189 (Skilled Independent Visa), Subclass 190 (Skilled Nominated Visa), or Subclass 491 (Skilled Work Regional Visa).

Your occupation as a Relationship Manager (Banking) doesn’t appear on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL), which means employer sponsorship through the Subclass 482 (Temporary Skill Shortage Visa) is not an option. This explains why they mentioned you need to wait for a nomination.

    Understanding the Process You’re In

    1. Skill Assessment – You would need a positive skills assessment from an assessing authority relevant to your occupation. Did Y-Axis assist you with this step?

    2. Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect – You must submit an EOI and claim points based on age, English proficiency, work experience, education, and other factors.

    3. State Nomination (if applicable) – If applying for a Subclass 190 or 491 visa, a state or territory government must nominate you. Have you applied for state nomination, or are you waiting for an invitation under Subclass 189?

    4. Invitation to Apply (ITA) – You cannot apply for the visa until you receive an invitation from the Department of Home Affairs.

    5. Visa Application Submission & Payment – Once invited, you can lodge your visa application and pay the fees. If you paid in 2024, does this mean you received an ITA, or was this a service fee to Y-Axis?

    6. Processing & Grant – Visa processing can take months to years depending on demand and eligibility.

    Concerns with Your Case

If Y-Axis said the process is valid for 3 years, they might be referring to the validity of your EOI. However, if you haven’t received an invitation yet, it’s important to reassess your eligibility and strategy.

It’s unclear whether you have applied for state nomination, which might be necessary given your occupation’s status.

Did Y-Axis confirm which ANZSCO code they used for your skill assessment and if so would you mind sharing it with me as this will help us re qualify the visa options?

    Next Steps

If you have not applied for state nomination, you should explore eligible states that might sponsor your occupation.

Check your EOI points score, if it’s low, improving English test scores or other factors might help. Se this simple points calculation guide here.

Confirm with Y-Axis whether your visa application has actually been lodged or if you are still waiting for an ITA.

Happy to help where I can.

    Regards

      Haii
Sorry for not being active in the forum. I was away with some personal work.
Actually my EOI has been filed last year and yesterday got an email from skill select that my EOI has been cancelled. So I hope my agency will file an EOI again.what else should be done from my end ? As you told my present role wont be matching with the skill list . They have given the option of financial advisor. But I am confused if I will be getting any nomination.

    Hi Aliya,

Thanks for the update, and no worries at all, life gets busy! 🙂

Sorry to hear your EOI was cancelled. That can happen if it’s been active for 12 months without being updated or selected. It’s good that your agency plans to resubmit it, but this might also be a good opportunity to reassess your approach.

You mentioned they selected Financial Adviser as your nominated occupation. This aligns with ANZSCO 222311 – Financial Investment Adviser, which is currently on the STSOL (Short-term Skilled Occupation List). This means it is not eligible for the Subclass 189 (Independent) visa, but can be considered for:

Subclass 190 (State Nominated) – depending on state demand and eligibility

Subclass 491 (Regional Nominated) – often with more flexibility

Here’s what you can do from your end:

    1. Check your EOI points score – If you’re under 65 points, you won’t be eligible for a visa invitation. You may be able to increase your score by improving your English test results or claiming more points for work experience.

    2. Ask your agent if they’ve applied for any state nominations on your behalf, especially under Subclass 190 or 491. Some states occasionally invite Financial Advisers depending on demand.

    3. Confirm your skill assessment outcome. Was it completed by the Financial Adviser assessing body, such as the Financial Adviser Standards body (FASEA) or another authority?

    4. Stay proactive – Even if your agency is managing the process, it’s important to be aware of key dates and updates.

I’m happy to help you explore which states might consider nominating Financial Advisers if you’d like to share your EOI points and other details.

I hope this gives some clarity, and I’m here to help if you need more support.

    Regards

        Haii Mark.

I have a score of 65. The Skill assessment was done by Vetassess. Also they have submitted the application for state nominated visa

I have a doubt regarding the state nominated visa that whether we will be receiving a Visa with PR status or should we come over there and apply for PR. Bcoz presently I have applied for a visa plus PR

          Hi Aliya,

Thanks for the update! Great to hear that your skill assessment is done through VETASSESS and your state nomination application has been submitted.

With a score of 65, you may have better chances under the Subclass 190 (State Nominated Visa) or Subclass 491 (Regional Nominated Visa) rather than the 189 visa.

          To answer your question:

If you are applying under Subclass 190, this is a permanent residency (PR) visa. Once granted, you’ll arrive in Australia as a permanent resident.

If you are applying under Subclass 491, this is a temporary visa valid for 5 years, but it offers a pathway to PR after 3 years if you meet income and residency requirements.

So yes, if your application is for Subclass 190, there is no need to apply for PR separately later. You’ll hold permanent residency from day one.

Let me know which subclass your agency applied under, and I can give you more specific advice.

Wishing you all the best as you move forward in the process!

          Regards

Hai Mark . Hope you are doing well. I went through my skill assessment report and came to know that I have 70 points under skilled nomination 190 subclass and 80 points in skilled worker Regional state and territory nominated 491 subclass.

I wish to know if there are any online courses that I can attend from my country which can help my migration to Australia, preferably which is related to my banking background.

    Hi Aliya,

Thanks for checking in, and great job confirming your points, 70 for Subclass 190 and 80 for Subclass 491 is a solid position, especially for state nomination!

In terms of courses, while online studies alone won’t increase your EOI points, some Australian states may favour applicants who:

    • Have qualifications closely aligned with their nominated occupation

    • Show commitment to working in their field in Australia

Here are some useful options you might consider:

    1. Short online courses or diplomas in financial planning, risk management, or investment advisory from Australian institutions can strengthen your resume and may support employment later. Look at providers like:

    2. RG146 Certification – While this is typically completed after arrival, it’s a core requirement for financial advisers in Australia. Understanding its requirements now could be useful: https://www.kaplanprofessional.edu.au.

    3. English test preparation courses (IELTS, PTE) – If you want to improve your score for extra points or to meet higher visa/language criteria, these can help too.

Doing relevant online study won’t directly boost your points, but it shows commitment to your career in Australia, and some states appreciate that in their assessment.

    I hope this helps? 🤷🏻

    You’re welcome, Aliya!

At this stage, if your EOI and state nomination application have already been submitted by your agency, there’s usually not much else to do while you wait, just make sure the information in your EOI stays accurate and up to date.

Here are a few things you can still keep an eye on:

    • Keep your English test results valid – If your IELTS or PTE test expires (usually after 3 years), you’ll need to retake it if you haven’t received an invitation.

    • Monitor your passport validity – Make sure your passport stays valid through the process.

    • Watch for emails from SkillSelect or your agency – Sometimes invitations or nomination updates can land in spam folders.

If your circumstances change (e.g. new qualifications, more work experience, better English score), ask your agency to update your EOI so your points reflect the latest info.

Fingers crossed you hear some good news soon! 😊

    All the best

    Mark
