Hello Beatrice and welcome to our community. 🙂
Since your occupation as a Special Education Needs Teacher is on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL), you have some great opportunities and a number of visa options..
To help you get started, here are some suggested next steps and official resources:
1. Skills Assessment
As a teacher, you’ll need a skills assessment through the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL).
Check their requirements here: AITSL Skills Assessment.
2. Expression of Interest (EOI) for Skilled Visas
For visas like subclass 189, 190, or 491, submit an EOI through SkillSelect.
SkillSelect details: SkillSelect.
3. Employer-Sponsored Visas
For visas like 186, 482, or 494, you’ll need to secure a job offer from an Australian employer who can sponsor you.
Explore teaching job vacancies here:
Sponsored Jobs in Australia (our website)
4. Regional Opportunities
Consider teaching in regional areas for better visa pathways (subclasses 491, 494, or 187). Regional areas have a higher demand for teachers.
Learn about regional sponsorship here: Regional Australia.
5. Temporary Visas
The 407 Training Visa or 485 Graduate Visa could be great for gaining Australian experience. Learn more here:
I know that is a lot of links and information however, please have a read and let us know if you have any questions.
I hope this helps 🙂
