Hi Ashwani, nice to hear from you again 😊

Thanks for reaching out! Given your background in accounting and office administration, your best visa pathway for sponsorship would likely be the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa (subclass 482) or the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 494) if you’re open to regional areas.

For an accountant role, employer sponsorship is competitive, but opportunities exist. I recommend searching for jobs that specifically offer visa sponsorship on 482jobs.com—this is one of our websites, and all jobs listed there are confirmed as offering sponsorship. You can also check Seek and Indeed.

Why is a skills assessment required?

A skills assessment is necessary to prove to the Australian Government that your qualifications and experience match Australian standards for your occupation. It is typically required if you are applying for a skilled visa, including employer-sponsored pathways. For accountants, the approved skills assessing authorities are:

    To improve your chances, consider:

    • Getting a skills assessment through one of the authorities listed above.
    • Ensuring you meet the English language requirements.
    • Exploring regional sponsorship under the DAMA (Designated Area Migration Agreement) program if applicable to your occupation.

I also encourage you to review posts from other accountants in our community via this link:

This will help you connect with others who have experienced similar things, and you may gain valuable insights into securing sponsorship.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have further questions.

    Regards,
    Mark

      Hi Mark,

I came to this forum looking for information on sponsored roles and just found this post recommending 482jobs.com, so thank you for sharing.

I am a chartered accountant, qualified in the UK, but I have found that finding an employer willing to take a risk on employing from overseas is like finding a needle in a haystack! I have visited WA multiple times to get in front of recruiters and employers, and whilst you are there the conversations flow, but as soon as you leave, out of sight and out of mind …

Hi Chris. It’s a great role to have but the competition for accountant positions is quite high. We only launched Oz Visa Forum approx 6 weeks ago and a quick search will highlight it’s quite a popular profession for wannabe Australians.

The search results will take you to some of the other threads that might contain information which may be useful for you.

Clicking the members tab will also highlight our accountants who have flagged their occupation as an accountant. I recommend following and connecting with these members so you can all learn from each other as you progress along your journey.

If you have your own questions more specific to your individual circumstances, please feel free to post a new thread by clicking here.

Though I can’t magic jobs out of thin air, I’ll try to provide as much assistance as I can.

        All the best

Cheers Chris. Direct link to the accountancy roles on 482jobs (one of our websites) https://482jobs.com/job-category/accounting/

You’ll also find roles on the other sites I’ve shared though you might need to do some additional searching to identify the sponsored ones.

            Best of luck!

            Regards

            Mark
