    Hi guys.

I am a Malawian, holding a degree in Public Health. I also hold a Diploma in Clinical Medicine obtained from Malawi. I have over 8years of progressive Professional work experience in providing general clinical care services and health promotion services.

I am interested in applying for a VISA into Australia for work. Guide me through the right pathway. I am ready to share my LinkedIn profile.

    Hi Mphatso,

Thanks for your message! Just a quick note before we dive in — we’ve moved your post to a new thread, as it’s important to start a new topic rather than replying to another user’s post with unrelated questions. This helps everyone receive the right support more quickly. 😊

    Now, onto your question.

With your background in Public Health and Clinical Medicine, there are several Australian visa pathways you could explore, depending on your specific role and duties. Here’s a quick breakdown:

    1. Skilled Migration Pathways — If your occupation is on one of Australia’s skilled occupation lists, you might be eligible for a points-tested visa like:

      • Subclass 189 (Skilled Independent)

      • Subclass 190 (State Nominated)

      • Subclass 491 (Regional)

The closest relevant occupations could include:

      • Public Health Officer – not always on standard occupation lists, but may be available under a DAMA (Designated Area Migration Agreement)

      • Medical Practitioner nec (ANZSCO 253999) – if your clinical duties align and you can register in Australia

      • Health Promotion Officer (ANZSCO 251911) – listed on the ROL (Regional Occupation List), suitable for the subclass 494 (regional sponsored) or subclass 482 if employer-sponsored

    2. Employer Sponsorship (Subclass 482 Temporary Skill Shortage visa) — If you find an Australian employer willing to sponsor you, this is often the fastest path. For health-related jobs, especially in rural and regional areas, sponsorship is a common practice.

To explore jobs that already offer Australia Visa sponsorship, start here:

    Also check:

Please note, unlike 482jobs.com, these sites list mostly non-sponsored jobs. Use filters like “visa sponsorship” or “482 visa” in your search.

If your role requires registration in Australia (e.g. as a clinician), you may need to apply through AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency): https://www.ahpra.gov.au/

    To increase your chances:

I hope this provides a clear starting point. Please feel free to share more information about your current job title and duties so I can match it to the appropriate ANZSCO code.

Wishing you the best of luck on your journey to Australia!

    Regards

    Mark
