Hi Edward and welcome to our community mate. 👍🏻

Happy to help but would you mind expanding on your occupation. I.e. When you say monitoring and evaluation, monitoring and evaluation of what? 🤔

Once I have a little more info, I should be able to guide you a little better.

    Cheers

    Mark

In what categories would M&E jobs more likely to be considered by sponsors for visa sponsorship? I have over 10 years M&E experience in aid development projects in education, governance and statistics.

        Thanks for your question, Moses!

Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) roles can be a bit tricky for Australia Visa sponsorship, as they are not directly listed under a specific ANZSCO (Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations) title.

However, depending on your background and qualifications, M&E work can often align with the following categories:

        1. Program or Project Administrator (ANZSCO 511112)

This is a common match for M&E professionals, especially in the NGO and aid sectors. It’s on the STSOL (Short-term Skilled Occupation List), so sponsorship is possible under a subclass 482 Temporary Skill Shortage visa, but only in non-regional areas or via Labour Agreements.

        2. Policy Analyst (ANZSCO 224412)

If your M&E work includes developing or evaluating policies, this may be relevant. It appears on the ROL (Regional Occupation List), so visa options could include the subclass 494 Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional visa or the subclass 191 pathway after that.

        3. Statistician (ANZSCO 224113)

Since you mentioned experience in statistics, this might be an option if your role is data-heavy. It’s on the MLTSSL (Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List), which allows for broader visa options including the subclass 482, 186 (Employer Nomination Scheme), and potential PR pathways.

        4. Education Adviser/Reviewer (ANZSCO 249112)

If your experience in M&E relates heavily to education program evaluation, this occupation might also be considered. It is listed under the ROL, which supports regional visa options.

For job hunting, I recommend starting with:

482jobs.com — One of our other sites. All roles here offer Australia Visa sponsorship, and we’ve done the filtering for you.

You can browse Consulting & Strategy roles here: https://482jobs.com/job-category/consulting-strategy/

Also try: https://seek.com.au and https://indeed.com.au — but use search terms like “visa sponsorship M&E”, “482 visa project evaluation”, or similar to find sponsored jobs.

I hope this helps you target the right roles for visa sponsorship in Australia.

        Regards

        Mark
