Hi Mary and welcome to our community! 🙋♂️
Thanks for reaching out and sharing your background. With your experience and a year in NGO finance, you have a solid foundation for exploring skilled migration pathways to Australia. Let’s go through your options.
Identifying Suitable Occupations
Based on your experience, these occupations might suit your profile:
-
Finance Manager (ANZSCO 132211)
-
Internal Auditor (ANZSCO 221214)
-
Management Accountant (ANZSCO 221112)
All three are currently on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL), which opens up both temporary and permanent visa options.
Visa Pathways
Given your preference for employer sponsorship, here are the main options:
-
Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Visa (Subclass 482) – Allows employers to sponsor you to work in Australia. MLTSSL occupations are eligible for a 4-year visa with a pathway to permanent residency.
-
Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) Visa (Subclass 186) – A permanent visa if you’re nominated by an Australian employer.
You might also explore state-nominated skilled migration pathways:
-
Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189) – Points-tested permanent visa with no employer sponsorship required.
-
Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190) – Requires nomination by a state or territory government.
Skill Assessment
You’ll need a positive skills assessment for any of the skilled visas. Based on your occupation, the assessing bodies would likely be VETASSESS or one of the accounting bodies in Australia.
