So the “Procurement Manager” role is on Australia’s regional occupations list which means it qualifies though if you find a role you would need to work in regional Australia. Thankfully, that doesn’t mean the middle of nowhere as areas just outside the major city CBDs qualify as regional in most cases.
If you are at a specialist rather than a manager level currently you may struggle Chinenye.
Also, what category are you procuring as some skills in certain procurement categories are more in demand than others.

I work in procurement as a team leader in a management role, I’ve been in this role for 15 years but I found that the jobs advertised in Oz for a similar role require qualifications that we don’t have in the UK. I’ve been looking for several years, I’m now 59, and although I’m not yet near retirement age I don’t think I’m eligible for a sponsorship visa. Over the years I’ve been unsuccessful in the jobs I’ve applied for.

Hiya Jayne
What qualifications are you referring to? That sounds strange, as the UK/Australia roles are usually quite well aligned. 🤔

Hi Mark
Thank you for replying, the ones I’ve seen all mention CIPS and also a diploma in Procurement and Contracting.
Many thanks Jayne
-
I believe CIPS originated in the UK though it seems pretty popular here in Australia. I’d note though the number of procurement professional without CIPS outnumbers those who do.
Employers by there very nature tend to set the bar high though if you have some good experiences I would let it put you off.
Also your experience may enable you to bypass much of tge study and simply site the exam for the level you are interested in obtaining.

Thanks Mark.
Does my age go against me for the visa in a sponsorship role ? I wasn’t sure if there’s an age limit ?
Many thanks Jayne
-
Not at all, there is no age limit on the 482/TSS Visa stream.
With the Procurement Manager role you are eligible to apply for the Skills in Demand (SID) visa (subclass 482) under the Core Skills Stream. This stream permits an initial stay of up to 4 years, with the possibility of indefinite extensions through subsequent renewals, provided you continue to meet the eligibility criteria.

Yep will do, back to the drawing board and looking at more positions available.
I heard Woolworths do a sponsorship but the job search engine doesn’t exactly say which roles offer this, so I’ve emailed them.
Thanks Jayne

Good idea Jayne. I’d probably recommend reaching out to CIPS Australia as they may have a number of member organisations on their books that they may be able to recommend (you can ask for nothing) 🙂
