I recently relocated to Cairns, Australia, from Sri Lanka as a dependent on a 482 visa. With nearly six years of experience as an Electrical Engineer in Sri Lanka, I’m eager to continue my professional journey here in Australia.
Currently, I’m in the process of applying for jobs in the Cairns region. While I’ve encountered some challenges in securing a position, I’m committed to adapting and growing within the Australian engineering landscape.

Also, out of curiosity,what occupation does your partner hold under the 482 visa?
That might affect your future permanent residency (PR) options. If your partner’s occupation is on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL), there may be a clear pathway to PR through the 186 (Employer Nomination Scheme) or 189/190 skilled visa streams.
