  • Seeking Employer Sponsorship & Guidance for 494 Visa – Welder/Fabricator

    Hello everyone,

My name is Meghnath Sapkota and I’m from Nepal. I am looking for help and guidance regarding the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (494) visa for Australia.

I have over 9 years of hands-on experience working in South Korea under the EPS system. From 2015 to 2022, I worked as a shipyard welder at Hyundai Heavy Industries. From 2022 to 2024, I was employed in the plastic injection molding sector. I specialize in MIG, TIG, and SMAW welding techniques.

Currently, I am seeking an Australian employer willing to sponsor me under the 494 visa program. I am also unsure whether to hire a registered migration agent or manage the application process myself (DIY), so any suggestions on that would also be appreciated.

Additionally, I would be very thankful if someone could share a proper **employer reference letter format** or sample that suits my welding/fabrication experience, as I am preparing all the documents myself.

Please let me know if there are any leads, templates, or trusted migration agents who could assist me.

Thank you for your time and support.

    Regards,

    Meghnath

Hi Meghnath, thanks for sharing your background and goals so clearly – you’ve got great experience that could definitely support a 494 visa pathway to Australia.

Here’s some helpful guidance to get you started:

    1. Jobs with Australia Visa Sponsorship for Welders Your occupation falls under ANZSCO 322313 – Welder (First Class), which is on the Regional Occupation List (ROL). This means you’re eligible to apply for the subclass 494 Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional visa, if you have an employer in regional Australia willing to sponsor you.

To find employers actively offering sponsorship:

Start with this site: https://482jobs.com – this is our job board, and every listing offers Australia Visa sponsorship.

Direct link for trades jobs like welding: https://482jobs.com/job-category/trades-services/

    You can also check:

    Seek: https://seek.com.au

Indeed: https://indeed.com.au On these sites, use search filters like “482 visa sponsorship” or “494 visa sponsorship” to focus on relevant results.

    2. Employer Reference Letter for Welders For the sample employer reference letter; It needs to clearly outline:

    • Your official job title
    • Exact duties performed (aligned with ANZSCO 322313)
    • Full-time hours worked
    • Start and end dates
    • Company letterhead, signature, and contact details

Let me know if you need more of a draft?

    3. DIY vs Migration Agent If your English is good and you’re confident with paperwork, the 494 process can be done DIY, especially if your employer is experienced. However, a Registered Migration Agent (RMA) can:

    • Help avoid delays or rejections
    • Guide you through skills assessments and regional requirements
    • Deal with employer nomination paperwork

You can search for registered agents at: https://www.mara.gov.au or we can refer you to an Mara Agent we work with for an initial 1:1 video assessment (they do charge a few for this service)

Let me know if you’d like further details.

I hope this helps for starters though please let me know if you have further questions.

    Regards

    Mark
