Hi Mehboob, and thanks for your question! 🙂

As a plumber, your skills assessment is conducted by Trades Recognition Australia (TRA).

You’ll need to complete the Offshore Skills Assessment (OSAP) if you’re applying from outside Australia and seeking a skilled visa like the 482 Temporary Skill Shortage visa or 189/190/491 skilled visas.

    Here’s how the process works:

    1. Check eligibility: The ANZSCO code for Plumber is 334111, and it is currently on the MLTSSL (Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List).

This means you are eligible for skilled visa options like 189, 190, 491, and employer-sponsored visas like the 482.

    2. Assessment steps:

Stage 1: Documentary Evidence Assessment You must submit evidence of:

Your plumbing qualification (translated into English)

At least 3–4 years of full-time work experience, including at least 12 months within the last 3 years

Proof of employment like payslips, reference letters, tax documents, etc.

Stage 2: Technical Interview and/or Practical Assessment If your documents are approved, you’ll be invited to a technical interview or practical assessment to demonstrate your skills.

    3. Assessment body: You will need to go through a TRA-approved Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for your specific country. A popular one is RTOs like VETASSESS or ASI Solutions. They will give you the full list of documents needed.

Hope that helps get you started.

Feel free to ask if you need any further help.

    Regards,

    Mark
