  Skilled Worker Visa or any other suggestions, alternative

  Hi everyone, I am a slaughterman who has worked previously in the UK and was hoping to get into another chance at working in the same field but in Australia.

  I’ve tried and tried again applying online but mostly wouldn’t even bother replying once they knew I am needing a sponsorship. Any tips would help, cheers!

  1. Use Dedicated Job Boards – Try 482jobs.com, which lists only visa-sponsored jobs. Also check Seek and Indeed, but use keywords like “visa sponsorship” or “meat processing” to refine your search.

  2. Contact Employers Directly – Many meat processors don’t advertise sponsorship online. Call or email their HR departments directly, expressing your experience and willingness to relocate.

  3. Check DAMA Agreements – Some regional areas have a Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA), which allows employers to sponsor workers for occupations not usually on standard skilled visa lists. Check with migration agents or regional development authorities.

  4. Ensure Skills and Licensing – Even though you have UK experience, you may still need an Australian qualification or licensing to work in a meat processing plant. Check with industry bodies like MINTRAC (http://www.mintrac.com.au) for requirements.
