  • Sponshorship for a job opportunity

Posted by Forough on January 25, 2025 at 4:10 am

My name is Forough , and I hold a bachelor’s and master’s degree in water engineering from two of Iran’s top universities. I have over nine years of professional experience in river engineering, focusing on river hydraulics, hydrology, flood risk management, and water quality modeling. My expertise includes advanced data analysis, physical and numerical modeling, and the use of software such as MIKE, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, MATLAB, Python, and Arc GIS.

I am currently looking opportunities in Australia, particularly in roles related to my field. I would like to inquire if there are any positions available that align with my qualifications and expertise and whether such roles offer visa sponsorship under Subclass 482. If there are opportunities available, I would greatly appreciate your guidance or referrals.

Hello Forough and welcome to Oz Visa Forum. It’s great to have you here.🙂

Australian Visas options closely link to the type of occupation held by the applicant

With this in mind, qualifying the correct occupation type is often a key starting point.

Does this description below resonate with what you do?

    234413 HYDROGEOLOGIST

Monitors, measures, analyses and describes the earth’s surface and groundwater resources and many aspects of the water cycle, including human use of water resources.

If so I’ll use this as a basis for describing next step.

If you are curious, you can also read more about ANZSCO codes and how they work here.

    All the best

      Hi Mark,

I hope this message find you well.

Sorry for so my late in replying you. Honestly, I am totally aware of Skill Worker process but it not possible for me, however I have 10 years repellent experience. I am more into to find a job in a company that provide sponsorship. I apply a lot but they say we are not able to get sponsorship to you. Is there any other way? By this situation, maybe I have to shift on applying for PhD to get a scholarship.

      Best regards,

      Forough

    Hi Forough,

Thanks for your reply, and no worries at all—it’s great to hear from you.

You’ve got very relevant experience, and yes, there are still options for employer sponsorship despite the challenges. Based on what you have shared so far, the most suitable ANZSCO code appears to be 234413 – Hydrogeologist, which is currently on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).

This means you’re eligible for the Subclass 482 Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa, as well as other long-term visa pathways.

To improve your chances of finding a sponsoring employer, I strongly recommend the following:

    1. Check out 482jobs.com – This is one of our own websites, and every job listed includes visa sponsorship. Here’s the general link: https://482jobs.com

Your field may fit well under: https://482jobs.com/job-category/engineering/

    2. Broaden your search with:

    Seek: https://seek.com.au

    Indeed: https://indeed.com.au

    3. Upload your resume to our database at https://482jobs.com/candidates/submit-resume/ – Recruiters search here monthly for skilled candidates needing sponsorship.

    4. Make sure your LinkedIn and resume are optimised for the Australian job market. This article might help: https://482jobs.com/15-expert-tips-to-get-noticed-by-australian-recruiters-on-linkedin

    And for resumes: https://482jobs.com/australia-resume-tips-craft-winning-resume/

If you’re still considering a PhD with a scholarship, that’s also a valid pathway, as many Australian universities can offer visas for PhD students.

However, if your goal is to work in Australia, focusing on employer sponsorship remains the most direct route or the skills elect EOI/PR path such as the 189 visa could be a solid option (though you suggest this might not be possible for you 🤔)

Either way, I hope you found this information helpful. Please feel free to ask if you’d like to explore the EOI path or anything else.

    Warm regards,

    Mark
