Welcome to our community, Beiju, and thanks for introducing yourself.

I’ve checked the latest ANZSCO and skills lists for your situation, and a move to Australia may be pretty challenging, unfortunately.

    ANZSCO versions currently in use

The Aussie Home Affairs department currently uses:

ANZSCO 2022 for the subclass 482 Skills in Demand visa, the 186 Employer Nomination Scheme visa, and ANZSCO 2013 for most other skilled visas.

    Your occupation and ANZSCO code

The role of parts interpreter in the automotive industry aligns with ANZSCO 621312 Motor Vehicle Parts Interpreter (Skill Level 4) in ANZSCO 2022.

    Current skills list status

    • Subclass 482 Skills in Demand visa – Core Skills stream: 621312 is not on the current Core Skills Occupation List
    • Subclass 186 Employer Nomination Scheme: 621312 is also not listed on the required occupation list

What this means for a 57-year-old parts interpreter

    • Subclass 482 Skills in Demand visa: There is no age limit, but the Core Skills Occupation stream is unavailable without your occupation on the Core Skills Occupation List. The Specialist Skills stream has very high income requirements, and retail-type sales positions rarely qualify
    • Subclass 186 Employer Nomination Scheme or 494 Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional visa: Both have a maximum age limit of 45 unless a specific exemption applies. Some Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) pathways offer age concessions, often up to 55, but this would still be above most DAMA caps, and your occupation would also need to be on that region’s DAMA list

    Other options to explore

    • Partner visas if you have, or later have, an Australian partner.

I hope this gives you a clear picture. Best of luck with your Australia plans!

It’s not going to be a straightforward option for you. We can refer you to a qualified migration agent if you want a more detailed assessment (though they will charge for their service)

    All the best

    Regards

    Mark
