Hi Abul and welcome to our community.
Thanks for your question though I’m afraid, I don’t have the best news as “Forklift Operator” is not currently on Australia’s Skilled Occupation List (MLTSSL or STSOL), which means:
❌ You cannot apply for a skilled migration visa (Subclass 189, 190, or 491) based on this occupation.
❌ Forklift Operator roles are not eligible for employer-sponsored visas (Subclass 482 or 186).However, there may still be some alternative pathways you could explore to move to Australia.
1. Employer-Sponsored Jobs in Warehousing & Logistics
- While Forklift Operator alone is not a sponsorable occupation, some related roles may be eligible for sponsorship if they involve supervisory, warehouse management, or logistics duties.
- You could try upskilling into roles like Warehouse Supervisor, Logistics Coordinator, or Storeperson, which may have sponsorship options.
✅ What you can do:
- Look for jobs with visa sponsorship in the logistics and warehousing sector.
- Try searching for “Warehouse Manager” or “Supply Chain Supervisor” roles with sponsorship on Seek, Indeed, and https://482jobs.com.
- Contact Australian employers directly and check if they are open to sponsoring a worker with additional logistics skills.
2. Working Holiday Visa (If Eligible) – Subclass 417 or 462
- As of 16 September 2024, India has officially joined Australia’s Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visa program, allowing up to 1,000 Indian citizens aged 18 to 30 to live, work, and holiday in Australia for up to one year.
- If you qualify for a Working Holiday Visa, you could come to Australia, work as a forklift operator, and gain local experience, which might increase your chances of getting sponsored for a different role later.
3. Study in Australia (Student Visa – Subclass 500)
- You could consider studying in Australia, which would allow you to work part-time while gaining local experience.
- Some students use this to gain work contacts that later lead to employer sponsorship in a related role.
4. Regional Work & Temporary Visa Options
- Some regional employers may be more open to hiring international workers if they struggle to find local staff.
- You could look into agriculture, logistics, or construction roles in regional areas that offer employer sponsorship.
Key Takeaways & Next Steps
❌ Forklift Operator is not a sponsorable occupation.
✅ Try applying for Warehouse Supervisor or Logistics-related jobs that may have sponsorship options.
✅ Look for work in regional areas where employer demand is higher.
✅ Consider studying in Australia to open up future work opportunities.Where to Search for Jobs with Sponsorship

Dear Mr. Mark,
Thank you for your response.
I would like to introduce myself. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Honours) in July 2023 with a CGPA of 8.1 out of 10. After graduation, I aspired to work in the UK to support my family financially. However, I was not eligible at the time due to my age I graduated at the age of 20. Coming from a village, convincing my parents about going abroad was also challenging.
Then I considered pursuing higher education in the UK, but financial constraints made it difficult to prepare and take the IELTS exam. When I asked my parents for some financial support, they were hesitant, fearing potential scams by agents. Since I would have been the first person in my family to go abroad, they were understandably cautious.
By the end of July 2023, I decided to stay home with my parents. As time pass by i end up staying home for 5 months In December 2023, a friend suggested that apply for a job at a bank. I went for an interview and got selected as a sales officer, which made me happy. However, when it was time to join, I faced another challenge the job required me to have my own bike. Additionally, my manager changed my work location from the city to a remote, hilly village. Due to financial constraints, I was unable to afford a bike, and the bank did not provide a loan to purchase one. Since even buying a used bike was beyond my budget, I had to quit the job before even starting.
After fifteen days later, while searching for other opportunities, I came across an advertisement for a forklift operator role. The job got my interest, so I contacted the given number. I was informed that I needed to complete forklift training to obtain a license. Without hesitation, I completed the training, earned my forklift license, and eventually secured a job as a forklift operator.
Although I am currently working as a forklift operator, but I’m still dream of working abroad and hope to achieve that goal someday.
Should I eligible for another role in warehouse or agriculture
Thank you
Abdul Qudoos.

Hi Abdul,
Thank you for sharing your journey! It’s awesome to see your determination to work abroad despite the challenges you’ve faced. Well done for that! 🤗
Based on your background in agriculture and your current forklift operator role, you may have potential pathways to work in Australia in either the warehouse/logistics or agriculture sectors.
1. Warehouse & Logistics Roles
Your forklift operator experience could help you find work in warehouse and logistics-related occupations. Some relevant roles include:
- Forklift Driver (ANZSCO 721311) – Typically requires experience and a valid forklift license.
- Storeperson (ANZSCO 741111) – Involves managing warehouse inventory, loading/unloading, and stock handling.
For visa sponsorship, warehouse jobs are not commonly listed as skilled occupations. However, you may still find opportunities under employer-sponsored visas like the 482 Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Visa, particularly in regional areas where there’s higher demand.
2. Agriculture Roles
Since you hold a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, you could explore opportunities in agricultural occupations, such as:
- Agricultural Technician (ANZSCO 311111) – Involves assisting in research, soil testing, and farm management.
- Farm Worker / Machinery Operator (ANZSCO 841600 series) – Includes general farming, harvesting, and machinery operation.
The Agriculture Visa (PALM Scheme) and 482 Visa (for skilled roles in agriculture) could be potential options if you find an employer willing to sponsor you. Some Designated Area Migration Agreements (DAMA) also allow skilled and semi-skilled agricultural workers to apply for visas.
Next Steps
- Job Search – Check job listings on 482jobs.com (all jobs offer visa sponsorship) and Seek and Indeed.
- Networking – Reach out to recruitment agencies specializing in agriculture and warehouse jobs in Australia.
- Consider Regional Areas – Many agriculture and logistics jobs are available in regional Australia, increasing your chances of employer sponsorship.
Let me know if you need further guidance!
Best of luck with your journey.
