Visa Sponsorship – Accountant
Posted by M on March 10, 2025 at 3:39 amHi everyone, I’ve been actively applying for accountant roles in Australia across various job platforms but haven’t had any success so far. I’m looking for opportunities with visa sponsorship and have a strong background in financial reporting, accounts management, and compliance. If anyone has any leads or advice, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi M and welcome to Oz Visa Forum 🙂
Just to check, are you already in Australia or are you looking to secure visa sponsorship from overseas?
We currently have 11 accountants amongst our members as have had a number of discussions on the challenges of securing roles.
As well as responding to my previous questions, I’d encourage you to click here to view prior discussions and also the other accountants in our community.
Our website gives you the option to follow and connect (a little like LinkedIn) which will add their posts to your personal feed which we’d actively encourage to get the best from our website 🙂
All the best
Mark

Hi M,
Thanks for the update! Since you’re currently overseas, securing employer sponsorship can be challenging but not impossible.
To improve your chances:
- Focus on employers who actively sponsor visas. Our job board 482jobs.com exclusively lists jobs that offer visa sponsorship, so I’d recommend starting there.
- Expand your job search to regional areas, as some employers in those locations may be more open to sponsoring.
- Ensure your skills assessment is in order if you plan on a skilled visa pathway in the future. For accountants, CPA Australia, CAANZ (Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand), or IPA (Institute of Public Accountants) handle skills assessments.
- Networking is key! Consider reaching out to recruiters and connecting with Australian accountants on LinkedIn (https://linkedin.com).
- Linked to my prior point – also make sure your linkedin profile is optimised to Attract Australian Recruiters.
Let me know if you need guidance on any specific steps. Wishing you the best in your job search!
Mark
