Hie, My name is Letty and im from Zimbabwe. Im 28 years old thinking of relocating to Australia but not quite sure how to go about it. I have a degree in insurance and risk management and have 4years experience. However i just transitioned to Project management got my PMP and CSM but no experience. Im hoping to find project management jobs maybe project coordinator, assistant project manager, Junior project manager or project manager. What are my chances of getting a visa and which one would best suit me.

Hi Letty, thanks for sharing your background and welcome to our community! 😊

With a degree in Insurance and Risk Management and recent PMP (Project Management Professional) and CSM (Certified ScrumMaster) certifications, you’re on a promising path.

Here’s a breakdown of your options:

    1. Suitable Occupations and ANZSCO Codes

    • Program or Project Administrator (ANZSCO 511112) – Matches roles like Project Coordinator, Junior Project Manager. This is on the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL), making it eligible for some state or regional visas and employer sponsorships.

    • Insurance Broker (ANZSCO 222113) or related roles may also align with your earlier experience. These are also on the STSOL.

    2. Visa Pathways

    • Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) – State-sponsored. Requires a skills assessment and enough points.

    • Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491) – For work in regional areas. Slightly easier criteria and more states support 511112.

    • Temporary Skill Shortage visa (subclass 482) – Requires a job offer from an Australian employer. Good for gaining experience and transitioning to permanent residency later.

    • Employer Nomination Scheme visa (subclass 186) – For permanent residency via employer sponsorship. Some streams allow direct entry if you have a relevant job offer.

    3. Skills Assessment
You’ll likely need to get your skills assessed by VETASSESS for ANZSCO 511112. They look at qualifications and work experience to determine if you meet the Australian standard.

    4. Job Search Tips
Begin by targeting roles such as Project Coordinator or Assistant Project Manager. Since your project management experience is new, these roles are ideal entry points.

    We recommend:

    5. Resume and Visibility
Make sure your resume fits Australian standards:

You’re on the right track, Letty. A well-targeted application for ANZSCO 511112 can open the door to multiple visa options and career opportunities in Australia.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions.

    All the best
