Hi Lyndon, thanks for your question. Nice to hear from you, mate!

The Work and Holiday visa (subclass 462) and the Working Holiday visa (subclass 417) both have age limits of 18 to 30 years old, except for a few countries (like France, Canada, Ireland) where the limit goes up to 35.

Since you’re 34 and from Papua New Guinea, unfortunately, you are not eligible for either of these visas. 😳

There are other options, especially if you’re looking at mining roles and already have relevant skills or experience.

If you have qualifications or work experience in mining-related occupations, you might qualify for an employer-sponsored visa, like the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa – subclass 482. This visa allows Australian employers to sponsor skilled overseas workers.

To explore jobs that offer Australia Visa sponsorship in the mining and trades sector, check this out:
    https://482jobs.com/job-category/trades-services/

This is our own job board, and every listing has been verified to offer sponsorship.

    You can also try:

Just remember to filter results using keywords like “482 visa” or “visa sponsorship,” as most jobs on these sites don’t automatically offer it.

Lastly, you can also upload your resume to improve visibility with Australian employers here:

I hope this helps point you in the right direction. Feel free to ask more questions. Here to help!

    Regards

    Mark

    Hey Mark,

In order to obtain a White Card, can i do the course online and get it or do i personally need to be in Australia to do the course and get it?

    Regards,

    Lyndon

    Hi Lyndon, good questionb mate!

To get a White Card (officially called the General Construction Induction Card), you must be physically in Australia when you complete the course, even if it’s offered online.

    That’s because:

    • The course includes identity checks that must be done while you’re in Australia.

    • Training providers are required by law to confirm you’re located in Australia during the training.

So, unfortunately, you can’t complete the White Card course from overseas. 🤨

If you’re planning to come to Australia on a visa that allows work (like a sponsored 482 visa), you can do the White Card training as soon as you arrive. It usually only takes a day and costs around AUD $100–150.

Hope this clears things up! Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Regards

    Mark
