Hi Markos, and welcome to the Oz Visa Forum community!
Thanks for sharing your background — with over 10 years of experience in the electrical field, especially across the diverse areas you’ve highlighted, I’d say you’re in a strong position to explore work opportunities in Australia.
To get started, here are a few steps you can take:
Target visa types: You may want to explore the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) 482 visa, which allows Australian employers to sponsor overseas workers in occupations on the skilled list. Given your experience, you may also qualify for permanent visas like the 189 Skilled Independent or 190 State Nominated visa, depending on your points and English language ability.
Skills assessment: For most skilled visas, you’ll need a positive skills assessment. In your case, this might be through Trades Recognition Australia (TRA) or Engineers Australia, depending on how your qualifications are assessed.
Job search: A good place to start is our job board, https://482jobs.com, where all roles offer employer sponsorship. Seek.com.au and indeed.com.au are other great sites though you will need to filter to ID the sponsored roles.
Tailor your CV and cover letter to Australian standards, and highlight your hands-on experience and relevant qualifications.
Visa process: Once you find a job offer, your employer can nominate you for the 482 visa. After approval, you can travel and begin working in Australia. If you meet the requirements, there may be a pathway to permanent residency down the line.
Feel free to reply here with specific questions, and we’ll do our best to help.
Wishing you all the best with your journey!
Regards, Mark

Hi Sheu. Thanks for your message and welcome again to our community.
We understand that visa costs can be hard to manage, especially without financial support. I see from your profile that your are a bricklayer? Since your occupation is Bricklayer (ANZSCO 331111), you are in a favourable position, as it’s listed on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL). This means you may be eligible for visa pathways such as:
- Subclass 482 (Temporary Skill Shortage visa) – employer sponsored
- Subclass 186 (Employer Nomination Scheme visa) – permanent residency through employer sponsorship
- Subclass 189 or 190 (Skilled visas) – based on points and skills assessment, without employer sponsorship
For employer sponsorship, start by checking https://482jobs.com – all jobs listed there are confirmed as offering visa sponsorship. You can also look at https://seek.com.au and https://indeed.com.au, but keep in mind that not all jobs on those platforms provide sponsorship.
Who pays and moving for free?
It’s important to be realistic – while some employers may cover major costs like the visa application and migration agent fees, it’s very rare for them to cover everything. You will usually need to pay for things like:
- Health examinations
- Police clearances
- English language tests (if required)
- Passport costs
- Relocation expenses (like flights and accommodation)
Some employers may assist with part of these, but full financial support is uncommon, especially for first-time overseas applicants. So while employer sponsorship is a valid pathway, it’s not a free ride – there are still costs involved, and competition is strong (literally people from around the world)!
I’d encourage you to upload your resume to our database at https://482jobs.com/candidates/submit-resume/ – this helps employers find you if they’re open to sponsoring skilled bricklayers from overseas.
I hope this helps clarify things. We’re here to support you, so feel free to reach out with more questions at any time.
Warm regards,
Mark

Hi Seema,
Thanks for your message and warm welcome to you 😊!
With your Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science Engineering and 4 years of experience, you may be eligible for several skilled visa pathways, especially under the occupation Software Engineer (ANZSCO 261313) or ICT Business Analyst (ANZSCO 261111), depending on your exact duties (see the descriptions I have linked behind the numbers). 👍🏼
These occupations are currently listed on the MLTSSL (Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List), which means they are eligible for employer-sponsored visas such as:
-
Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa (subclass 482) – This requires employer sponsorship. It allows you to work in Australia for up to 4 years.
-
Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) – A permanent visa pathway that also requires employer sponsorship.
-
Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189) or Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) – These do not require employer sponsorship, but are based on a points system. You’ll need to complete a skills assessment and submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through SkillSelect.
To get started with sponsored job opportunities, I recommend:
-
482jobs.com – This is one of our websites, and all listings offer visa sponsorship: https://482jobs.com (membership required)
-
Seek: https://seek.com.au
-
Indeed: https://indeed.com.au
Seek and Indeed contain thousands of roles, unlike 482 jobs. Not all offer sponsorship, so make sure you add keywords like ‘sponsorship’ to try to narrow down your search when using these websites.
When applying for roles in Australia, ensure your resume follows Australian standards. You can check out our guide here: Australia Resume Tips: Craft a Winning Resume in Australia – https://482jobs.com/australia-resume-tips-craft-winning-resume/
Also, consider uploading your resume to our database so recruiters can find you. Submit your resume here: https://482jobs.com/candidates/submit-resume/

Hi Harold,
Thanks for the follow-up. I really appreciate you sharing more about your background, your Certificate III in Engineering – MEM30205 (Mechanical Trade) aligns well with the Maintenance Fitter pathway under ANZSCO 323211, and your experience should definitely be of interest to the right employer.
Since you’ve been applying for nearly 2 years without success, here are a few suggestions that might help:
-
Where Have You Been Searching?
Let me know which websites or job boards you’ve been using. It’s really important to make sure you’re applying only for jobs that offer visa sponsorship, many roles in Australia don’t, and it’s easy to waste time applying for jobs that won’t lead anywhere. -
Target These Websites First:
-
https://482jobs.com – This is one of our websites, and all listings here are confirmed to offer sponsorship (membership required).
-
https://seek.com.au and https://indeed.com.au – Great for broader job searching, but always double-check the job ad for sponsorship eligibility. Use terms such as ‘sponsorship’ as part of your criteria to help filter jobs

-
Update Your Resume to Australian Format:
Many overseas resumes don’t align with what Australian employers are used to seeing. I recommend reading this article to format your resume correctly:

Upload Your Resume for Employers to Find You:
As suggested previously, by uploading your resume to our site, recruiters and employers who are actively looking to sponsor overseas workers will be able to view your profile directly:
https://482jobs.com/candidates/submit-resume/
Feel free to send me a link to your resume once you have uploaded it. You can post the link here on the forums or send me a direct message with the URL of your resume on 482jobs.

Hi Harold, welcome to our community. 🙂
Thanks for your message! Based on your occupation, Maintenance Fitter is considered a specialisation of Fitter (General), which falls under ANZSCO 323211. This occupation is listed on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL), which means it is eligible for the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa (subclass 482) under the medium-term stream.
This means:
You can be sponsored by an approved employer anywhere in Australia (not just regional areas).
You may be eligible for a four-year visa, with a pathway to permanent residency after three years.
You’ll need at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
If you’re from Papua New Guinea, a skills assessment through Trades Recognition Australia (TRA) may be required.
To find employers offering visa sponsorship:
Start with https://482jobs.com – this is one of our websites and all jobs listed here are confirmed to offer visa sponsorship.
Then check https://seek.com.au and https://indeed.com.au
I also suggest uploading your resume here to connect with Australian employers directly:
https://482jobs.com/candidates/submit-resume/
Let me know if you need help with your resume, skills assessment, or anything else.
All the best Harold, and happy to help further if you have further questions.

Mark

Hi mate. Politics… spicy! 🌶️☺️
For what it’s worth, I think you’ll be absolutely fine.
Reading the news here in Oz, both parties want to reduce net migration levels and to reduce some of the pressure on housing in certain areas.
With that said, Historically, when immigration policies change, there are usually “grandfathering” provisions that allow applications already in progress to be assessed under the previous rules.
Given you have already received an invite (and hopefully a visa by the time of the election 🤞🏻), I think you will be absolutely fine. 🙂
Cheers
Mark

Perfect. Nice work mate. Fingers crossed for a straight forward application process. Looks like everything is coming together nicely! 🙂

Nice work and you’re absolutely right.Production Manager (Manufacturing) – ANZSCO 133512 falls under Group B, which is slightly more flexible in terms of qualification alignment compared to scientific or technical roles like Agricultural Scientist.
Here’s what that means practically:
For Group B occupations like Production Manager (Manufacturing), VETASSESS requires a formal qualification at least at the Australian Bachelor degree level, but it does not have to be in a field directly related to the occupation.
What matters more is that your husband has at least one year of highly relevant work experience in the role within the past five years.
They will assess whether his employment duties match the ANZSCO description, not necessarily whether his degree is directly related.
Best of luck and feel free to reach out as you continue your journey. I’ll be happy to assist where I can.
Regards
Mark

Hi Vera, welcome to our community! 😊
Thanks for sharing your situation. Based on your background and current status, here’s a clear path forward with some practical suggestions:
1. Consider applying for a new Student Visa (subclass 500):
If you’re currently on a Bridging Visa without work rights, applying for a proper Student Visa might be a smart move. The Student Visa typically includes limited work rights (up to 48 hours per fortnight during study terms), which may help with your finances and improve your employment prospects in Australia.Details: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/student-500
2. Look into Skilled Migration options (subclass 189, 190, 491):
Given your Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and your experience in the pharmaceutical industry, you might qualify under one of the skilled visas. However, eligibility depends heavily on your specific occupation’s ANZSCO code and whether it appears on a relevant skilled occupation list. For example:-
If your experience aligns with Sales and Marketing Manager (ANZSCO 131112), it is on the MLTSSL (Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List), which supports permanent skilled migration options.
-
Alternatively, if your experience is more aligned with Pharmaceutical Representative (ANZSCO 225412), this is on the STSOL (Short-term Skilled Occupation List), which is more restrictive but still supports options like the subclass 482 and 190 visas.
We can narrow this down further if you can describe your role in more detail.
3. Consider employer-sponsored pathways once your visa status allows work rights:
Sponsorship on a Temporary Skill Shortage (subclass 482) or a Training Visa (subclass 407) is possible, but your current visa status makes it hard for employers. Once on a Student Visa with work rights, you’ll be in a stronger position to secure a job and build relationships that could lead to sponsorship. For employer-sponsored roles, start searching on:
-
https://482jobs.com (our job board with only visa-sponsored roles)
Also consider uploading your resume to our recruiter database here: https://482jobs.com/candidates/submit-resume/ Recruiters search this regularly for visa-sponsored candidates.
4. Network with recruiters on LinkedIn:
Optimise your LinkedIn profile to attract attention from Australian employers. We’ve got a great article with tips here:
https://482jobs.com/15-expert-tips-to-get-noticed-by-australian-recruiters-on-linkedinI’d be happy to help you assess your eligibility for skilled migration or sponsorship pathways if you can share more about your job title, daily duties, and whether you’ve had any formal skills assessments done.
Hope this helps you feel more confident about your next steps. Let me know if you’d like help working through the skilled visa options based on your background.

I’ve moved your message into a new thread for you, as it’s always best to start your own topic rather than replying to someone else’s unrelated question. AdministratorMarch 29, 2025 at 5:33 pm in reply to: Application for Australia Citizenship by AncestryThanks for your question Jen!
Yes, you do need to submit scanned copies of both the front and back of the physical photographs for each child, even if the signature appears only on the front.
The Department of Home Affairs requires colour scans of the physical photos to confirm that the photo was certified correctly and that the studio details or other identifying marks are visible.
Here’s how to proceed:
-
Scan the back of the same physical photo that was signed and attached to Form 1195.
-
Make sure the scan is in full colour and clearly shows the studio stamp and date.
-
Upload the scanned back of the photo as a separate file, just as you did for the front image.
-
Attach it under the “photograph” or “supporting documents” section of your child’s application (depending on how your ImmiAccount is structured).
Even though the back doesn’t have a signature, the stamp and date still help verify that the image is recent and consistent with Department standards.
I hope this clarifies things for you. Let me know if you have any other questions about the process.
Warm regards,
Mark -

Hi Jayne, great question!
I’m not as familiar with New Zealand’s migration system but from what I’ve read it would seem New Zealand does have similar systems to Australia when it comes to employer sponsorship and skilled migration.
New Zealand has the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV).
To be sponsored, you must have a job offer from an accredited employer.
The employer must be approved by Immigration New Zealand to sponsor overseas workers.
2. Skills Lists
Like Australia, New Zealand also has a skills list. It uses the ‘Green List’ which works like Australia’s skilled occupation lists.
If your occupation is on the Green List, and you have a job offer in that role, you may qualify for residence straight away or after working for 2 years.
You can check the Green List and how it works here:
So yes, NZ does have a system involving employer sponsorship and skills in demand, much like Australia but it’s simpler and more centralised under the AEWV system.
Hope this helps.
Regards, Mark
immigration.govt.nz
Search the Green List for roles in demand in New Zealand. If your role is listed, and you have the qualifications, registration or experience required, you may be able to get residence immediately or after 2 years of working here.
