    Hello Gialloc

For your husband, vehicle painter is on the regional occupation lists and would qualify for a number of sponsored visas subject to him being able to secure a job offer offer from an employer or a state. We advertise jobs offering visa sponsorship via our website https://482jobs.com

Panel beater would likely be the better option as this role is on the Medium to long term occupations list which will enable him to apply for a number of different Australia visas independently of the need for a sponsor

The subclass 189 visa is a points tested visa and he would need to have his skills assessed before registering an Expression of interest.

We have a points test guide here which will help understand how many points he would qualify for. He would need more than 65 points to enable him to apply for the 189 visa (other options are also available).

Thanks for the info Melchior. Do you have any formal experience in aged care. These roles are quite popular with overseas migrants so it might be a good occupation to target of you have the experience. ☺️

Welcome Lubala and thanks for your post. To assist you with your enquiry a little better – please can you expand a little more.

What industry do you work in (Banking, Minding, Retail) and how many years experience do you have.

Also have you started looking yet or are you in the very early stages of your journey.

Hello Beatrice and welcome to our community. 🙂

Since your occupation as a Special Education Needs Teacher is on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL), you have some great opportunities and a number of visa options..

To help you get started, here are some suggested next steps and official resources:

    1. Skills Assessment

As a teacher, you’ll need a skills assessment through the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL).

Check their requirements here: AITSL Skills Assessment.

    2. Expression of Interest (EOI) for Skilled Visas

For visas like subclass 189, 190, or 491, submit an EOI through SkillSelect.

    SkillSelect details: SkillSelect.

    3. Employer-Sponsored Visas

For visas like 186, 482, or 494, you’ll need to secure a job offer from an Australian employer who can sponsor you.

    Explore teaching job vacancies here:

Sponsored Jobs in Australia (our website)

    Teach in Australia

    4. Regional Opportunities

Consider teaching in regional areas for better visa pathways (subclasses 491, 494, or 187). Regional areas have a higher demand for teachers.

Learn about regional sponsorship here: Regional Australia.

    5. Temporary Visas

The 407 Training Visa or 485 Graduate Visa could be great for gaining Australian experience. Learn more here:

    407 Visa

    485 Visa.

I know that is a lot of links and information however, please have a read and let us know if you have any questions.

    I hope this helps 🙂

    Hello Gia and welcome.

The Australia’s skilled visa program is tied to a number of occupation lists. Unfortunatly Receptionist and Administration Officer roles are not currently on the Skilled Occupation List aligbed with independent, sponsored or state-nominated visas.

Would you be open to agricultural work. The PALM option might be an option if this an area of interest. From their website:

The Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme allows eligible Australian businesses to hire workers from 9 Pacific islands and Timor-Leste when there are not enough local workers available.
Through the PALM scheme, eligible businesses can recruit workers for short-term jobs for up to 9 months or long-term roles for between one and 4 years in unskilled, low-skilled and semi-skilled positions.
The PALM scheme helps to fill labour gaps in rural and regional Australia and nationally for agriculture and select agriculture-related food product manufacturing sectors by offering employers access to a pool of reliable, productive workers. It also allows Pacific and Timor-Leste workers to take up jobs in Australia, develop their skills and send income home.

    Webpage here: https://www.palmscheme.gov.au/

If this isn’t an option do you have any other skills or experience. 🤷‍♂️

    All the best

Good idea Jayne. I’d probably recommend reaching out to CIPS Australia as they may have a number of member organisations on their books that they may be able to recommend (you can ask for nothing) 🙂

It’s certainly an option worth considering Tim as it could give you 2 years of experience here in Australia to further your network while gaining some Australian experience.

I’d recommend engaging with bodies like the Australian Institute of Building (AIB) https://aib.org.au/ or Engineers Australia https://www.engineersaustralia.org.au/

They may be able to connect you with employers seeking candidates with your experience offering training opportunities.

Best of luck and please keep in touch as you progress your journey down under 👍🏻

That’s the way! It took about 2 years of prep for us when we moved here with lots of spanners in the works when the Aussie government changed their legislation just before we applied.

Happy to help where we can during your journey Ben. Sounds like you have also researched quite a bit so hopefully your insights will prove useful for others during your journey. 👍🏻

Not at all, there is no age limit on the 482/TSS Visa stream.

With the Procurement Manager role you are eligible to apply for the Skills in Demand (SID) visa (subclass 482) under the Core Skills Stream. This stream permits an initial stay of up to 4 years, with the possibility of indefinite extensions through subsequent renewals, provided you continue to meet the eligibility criteria.

Welcome, Tim, and thanks for your post. Construction Project Manager under ANZSCO 133111 qualify for a decent range of Visas:

    1. Employer-Sponsored Visas:

482 (Temporary Skill Shortage): Immediate work visa with potential PR via subclass 186.

494 (Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional): Regional-focused, PR pathway after 3 years.

    2. Points-Tested Skilled Visas:

189 (Skilled Independent): No sponsorship is needed; it is based solely on points.

190 (Skilled Nominated): Requires state/territory nomination.

491 (Skilled Work Regional): State or family sponsorship for regional areas.

    3. Other Pathways:

407 (Training Visa): Temporary visa to gain structured Australian work experience.

Family-Sponsored 491: If you have relatives in regional areas.

It may be a good idea to progress a search for roles in support of 482/494 for sponsorship and in parallel; lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI) for 189, 190, or 491 through SkillSelect.

Hi mate. Welcome and good job on the research – The Information and Organisation Professionals nec under ANZSCO 224999 current qualifies for the following visa classes with each option suiting different circumstances:

    1. Subclass 190 – Skilled Nominated Visa

This is a permanent residency visa requiring nomination by a state/territory. You’ll need to meet points test requirements and state-specific nomination criteria.

Best for applicants with high demand in a particular state/territory.

Check occupation-specific requirements on state migration websites.

    2. Subclass 491 – Skilled Work Regional Visa

This is a temporary (5-year) visa requiring regional nomination. It offers a pathway to permanent residency after 3 years.

Ideal if you are willing to live/work in regional areas.

    3. Subclass 482 – Temporary Skill Shortage (Short-Term Stream)

A temporary work visa requiring sponsorship by an employer.

Suitable if you have a job offer and the employer can sponsor you.

    4. Subclass 494 – Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional Visa

Similar to the 482 but requires employer sponsorship in regional Australia and provides a pathway to PR.

    5. Subclass 407 – Training Visa

For occupational training or professional development.

Useful if you require specific Australian work experience to meet other visa requirements.

    6. Subclass 187 – Regional Sponsor Migration Scheme

This is now closed to new applications, replaced by the subclass 494 visa.

    Recommendations:

If you aim for permanent residency, focus on the 190 or 491 visa.

If you have an employer sponsor, consider the 482 or 494 visa.

Start by assessing your points for the 190/491 and confirming state nomination availability.

Is age also on your side? As you get closer to 45 things cn start to get a bit spicy. 😬

    cheers
