Hello Robert. Welcome to our community and thank you for your post. 👍🏻

Other than a tourist visa, having a passport from certain countries won’t really give you an advantage (unless you are a citizen of New Zealand which has very close political ties with Australia).

Your occupation will play a key role in your chances of securing a visa so let’s start there.

If you can provide more insight into what you do, how much experience you have, then I’ll be able to help identify the appropriate visa pathways and process for you.

    All the best

I didn’t actually didn’t know the answer to your question so the research I did was equally helpful for me as it’s an area I’ve not considered before.

Happy to help where I can as you continue on your journey 🤗

    Take care

    Hi again Luke

The Subclass 491 visa provides a pathway to PR. After holding the visa for at least 3 years, earning a taxable income above a specific threshold (currently AUD 53,900 annually), and meeting other requirements, you may be eligible to apply for the Subclass 191 Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) visa. Once you obtain PR, you can later pursue Australian citizenship, provided you meet the residence and other criteria.

Finding Regional Employers: A great starting point is exploring job boards and regional employer directories. You might consider:

Job search platforms: Seek (https://www.seek.com.au/), Indeed (https://au.indeed.com/), and Workforce Australia (https://www.workforceaustralia.gov.au/).

Regional Development Authorities: These agencies often work with employers in regional areas. For example, Regional Development Victoria (https://www.rdv.vic.gov.au/) or Regional Development Australia (https://rda.gov.au/).

Industry-specific groups: Look for associations in mining, agriculture, or construction, such as the Australian Constructors Association (https://www.constructors.com.au/).

Finally, Networking: Since you’re on LinkedIn, leverage it to connect with regional employers, recruitment agencies, and groups focused on skilled migration opportunities in Australia. You might find th8s article we wrote some time ago helpful:

Welcome Myriam and thanks for saying hi and intruducing us a little more into your life and inspirations 🙂

You are correct that Australia’s immigration process can be challenging for families with a member who has a disability or health condition.

This is because visa applicants must meet Australia’s health requirement, which assesses whether an individual’s health condition could result in significant costs to the public health system or community services.

    Here’s an overview to help:

    1. Health Requirement: Every family member included in a visa application must pass the health requirement, even if they won’t move to Australia with you.

For children with special needs, this could mean undergoing medical assessments to determine if their condition might create a financial burden on the Australian health or community systems.

    2. Health Waivers: For some visa subclasses, a health waiver may be available. This means the Department of Home Affairs could waive the health requirement if compelling circumstances exist (e.g., strong ties to Australia or significant contributions you or your family could make to the country). Waivers are not available for all visa types.

    3. Visa Options for Families: Common pathways for families include skilled migration visas (if you meet occupation and points criteria), family reunion visas (e.g., partner or child visas), or employer-sponsored visas. Each has different rules about the health requirement and waivers.

I hope this helps provide some initial insight. Please feel free to ask any additional questions. 🙂

Hello Roshan. You are very welcome here and thank you for your question. 🙂

Humanitarian migration to Australia is not typically a sponsored visa route.

Humanitarian visas are part of Australia’s Refugee and Humanitarian Program, designed for individuals who are fleeing persecution, violence, or serious human rights violations in their home countries.

These visas are often based on the applicant’s circumstances and their need for protection.

Two key categories within this program are:

    1. Offshore Humanitarian Program (subclass 200–204): For individuals outside Australia who need protection. This includes:

    Refugee visa (subclass 200)

In-Country Special Humanitarian visa (subclass 201)

Global Special Humanitarian visa (subclass 202) – Requires an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible organization to propose (not sponsor) the applicant.

Emergency Rescue and Woman at Risk visas (subclasses 203 and 204).

    2. Onshore Protection Visa (subclass 866): For individuals already in Australia seeking asylum who meet refugee criteria under international law.

I’m unsure if this helps. 🤷‍♂️ There is lot of additional information contained within the pages I have linked to (blue text) though please let me know if you have further questions

Ashwani being an ‘all-rounder’, though great, won’t align with how Australian Migration works, unfortunately

To assess your suitability for an Australian Visa, you will need to have your skills assessed (and there is a cost associated with this assessment process).

I’m assuming you won’t want to pay to do this for every occupation you have listed so I’d recommend you pick an occupation that you would lead in with.

With this in mind. Which one of the occupations would you pick as the one you think you would have the most success?

If that’s the case, I’d use the contact forms Miriam (there are email icons that link to the email addresses for the various departments). 📨

    Healthcare Australia: https://healthcareaustralia.com.au/contact-us/

International healthcare Australia is not an organisation as such (My wording may have been confusing, for which I apologise).
