Mark I love it. It’s actually one of the best resources I’ve ever seen on the Australian migration subject in all my years of wanting to migrate.

I’d say though, is there a “DM” feature, which I could direct message you, or someone specifically? If there is one, then I’m just a bonehead who can’t find the feature, but I think it would be a good addition.

Hi Mark. Just wanted to update you that I completed my health exam. Was very straightforward/easy, albeit a bit expensive.

I have a HAP ID, which means I think the doctors will upload my exam results directly to my immi account portal.

I’ve read that depending on your occupation, visa processing times for a 190 to NSW may go quicker than 20 months. Do you happen to know the average wait/processing-time for an ICT Security Specialist for an NSW 190? I didn’t know if there was a website or matrix that published those times and details.

I also don’t know whether anyone with more EOI points than me will get first preference on visa processing, or now that I’ve applied to a visa, am I’m equally in the same boat as anyone with higher EOI point totals than me? Or does processing time simply come down to occupation and time of application submission?

Thanks again and hope you’re enjoying ANZAC Weekend,

    -Tommy

Mark this is great info, thank you so much! I will continue then with my 482 job applications. That’s good info on multiple visas not allowed at the same time.

I had a question as I was looking at Visa Processing times that could take as much as 20 months. What happens if my Skills Assessment(valid for 18 more months) or PTE(35 more months) passes it’s expiry date while my visa application is still getting processed. I can’t imagine I’ll have to re-do them now that my application is submitted, correct?

I guess that also bring up the question, what happens if in the processing time(which could take as long as 20 months) if my job changes, if I move to a new address, or something like that. Does all that stuff need to be re-added to my application, or how does that work?

    Thank you Mark.

I followed your instructions on the ID History Summary and got that documentation submitted. I’ll submit my full application today.

Thanks again for all the help!

Thank you for this information Mark.

Do you happen to have a link to what kind of police report/background check I need? I can’t seem to find any links that direct me to the correct type of police report.

Also, regarding the health exam, is it better I do a health exam beforehand so that it’s done when I submit my visa application, or is it better to select “No I haven’t taken a health exam”, and then allow the Home Affairs Department to contact me afterwards to schedule a health exam?

I’m not sure if there’s any specific links or guidance as to what type of health exam is necessary. If a general physical exam is sufficient, I figure I can upload one today from earlier this year, but I’m not sure.

    Thanks,

    -Tommy

Mark, your wishes of luck paid off. My nomination just got approved and I just received my invitation to apply for a visa!!! Unbelievable how fast it was. After work is done, I’m going to make sure I go ahead and complete as much as I can.

I think there are health records and police reports that have to be submitted with that correct? Do you happen to have a list of documents that are necessary?

At this point in the process(given the hefty $4200 AUD fee associated with submitting the visa application), is my Visa simply a formality once I pay and submit the application? Or are there other remaining hurdles in the way?

    Thanks,

    -Tommy

Thank you Mark, and thank you Darlene. This helps a lot!

I’ve always thought about multiple pronged efforts so going down the 482 route on top of the skilled migration pathway always seemed to make sense to me. I completely understand the 186 may be tougher to obtain than the 482 because of the permanence in nature.

I also really like the 4th bullet point, “pleading ignorance post acing the interview”, and can see how that may work well.

Thank you Mark. I just wanted to provide you some updates on my nomination process

    1. New South Wales (NSW):

You were correct. Could not apply directly for nomination for a 190. 491 I could have, but I didn’t meet the criteria to be eligible to apply for nomination(recent NSW grad, living there already, working there)

    2. Victoria:

Submitted my ROI; process was how you mentioned

    3. Queensland:

The migration Queensland website actually said I should apply for nomination post EOI submission, so I did that for both 190 and 491.

    4. South Australia:

Process was how you mentioned. Applied for nomination for 190 and 491

    5. Western Australia (WA):

Process was how you mentioned. Cannot apply for nomination until your EOI is selected

    6. Tasmania:

I tried to apply for nomination but was ineligible as I’m not onshore, a recent Tas graduate, nor already working in Tasmania

    7. Northern Territory (NT):

    Same situation as Tasmania

    8. Australian Capital Territory (ACT):

Similar to WA and NSW….I need to be invited to apply for nomination
